Church of All Nations - A Lantern, A Sleeping Bag, A New Adventure

           
 
It began 12 years ago with a sleeping bag, a lantern, a Beaverton Pastor, and his cry out to God for revival in his town.
 
And He listened.
 
And He answered.  But not as this Pastor had planned.
 
A serendipitous chain of events brought together a visitation of God's Holy Spirit to a number of people who, after this encounter, no longer could remain in the barren religion in which they had remained comfortable for years. 
 
And the Pastor answered the wild, unfettered call of God to leave the safety of denominations, salaries, buildings, and doctrines, to enter into a new adventure. A few families began meeting in a home, which soon became several families, which soon was too many for the home.
 
And there we were born -- the Church of All Nations.
 
The ministry goes on, recently blessed with a place to call home here on Meade St. in Portland.  God provided an opportunity, and His people answered with great sacrifice and determination to make it their home.
 
Church of All Nations is a lighthouse, shining with the exuberant praise of God's people. 
 
Church of All Nations is an oasis, where the thirsty can drink fresh from His Spirit.
 
Church of All Nations is a refuge, where freed captives find a peaceful settlement.

What you can expect each Sunday
Our church thrives on freedom in worship -freedom to come into the actual presence of God Almighty and worship before the King of Kings.  People jubilantly wave banners, cry out praises, sing songs, and make melodies to the Lord with their hearts.  Just as David danced before the Lord when the ark was returned to Israel, often people will move their feet to the rhythm of heaven as the Holy Spirit enters into their midst. 
 
You are sure to enjoy a mix of the old, the new, and even original songs of the Lord inspired in times of intimate worship to Him.
 
Dr. Dennis Swift preaches with a vigor and passion seen rarely in the world.  His depth of knowledge combined with a sensitivity to the leading of the Spirit are sure to bring inspiration, conviction, and even healing to your spirit.
 
We have seen many miracles and healings done in our church family over the last number of years.  Spiritual Gifts are encouraged to edify the body and to bring unbelievers to the feet of Jesus.
 
Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  We come expecting Him to send His Spirit each week to touch people.

What we believe
The Bible is our all-sufficient rule for faith and practice.  This statement of believe is intended simply as a basis of fellowship among us (i.e. that we all speak the same thing, Acts 2:42; I Cor. 1:10).
 
This statement of belief is intended as a basis of fellowship among us -- the phraseology is not inspired, but the truth is essential to a full-gospel minsitry.
 
No claim is made that this statement of belief contains all Biblical truth, only that it covers our need as to these fundamental doctrines:
 
  • The Bible is the only inspired infallible Word of God (II Tim 3:16ff).
  • There is one God, eternally existent in 3 persons: the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit (Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19).
  • In the deity, virgin birth, miracles, and sinless life of our Lord Jesus Christ (Matt. 1:23; Acts 2:22; Heb. 7:26).
  • In the vicarious death of Jesus and in atonement through His shed blood (I Cor. 15:3).
  • In the bodily resurrection of Jesus (Matt. 28:6).
  • In Jesus' ascension to the right hand of the Father and in His soon-coming return in power and glory (Matt. 24:27,30; Acts 2:33; Heb. 1:3).
  • That justification by faith in the atonement of Jesus Christ and regeneration by the Holy Spirit are absolutely essential for the salvation of lost and sinful man (Luke 24:47).
  • That the prime agency for the work of God's Kingdom is  the local Christian church functioning under the sovereignty of our Lord Jesus Christ and that the ordinances of Believer's Baptism and the Lord's Supper have been entrusted to the church (Mk. 16:16; I Cor. 11:26).
  • In the present ministry of the HOly Spirit whichincludes: the Baptism int hte Holy Spirit as an experience distinct from regeneration, His indwelling by which the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life, His supernatural gifting and empowering of the church for work, life, and worship I Cor. 12; Acts 8:12-17).
  • In the return of Jesus Christ to consummate His Kingdom and in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: those who are saved unto the resurrection of life, and those who are lost unto the resurrection of damnation (Matt. 25:46; Mark 9:43-48).
  • In the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Ps. 133; I Cor. 12).
  • In the baptism of the Holy Spirit with all the initial and subsequent evidences as enumerated in Acts 2:4 and I Cor. 12 and 14.
  • In the manifestations of the supernatural including signs and wonders as well as spiritual gifts (Mk 16:20; I Cor. 14:1-39).
